We employ several techniques to minimize the particulate matter in our packaged product, however, there is always a chance that small amounts of yeast and other sediment may be present. This sediment is perfectly normal, not harmful, and should not affect the taste of the beer. The exception to this rule is our award-winning Optimal Wit.

When the time for beer strikes do you reach for a favourite glass, take whatever drinking vessel is closest, or make your decision depending on the style of beer about to be enjoyed? In this country, it used to be the case that the majority of ales were served in a weighty mug, lager in a narrower pint pot, and anything else was reserved for wine or soft drinks.
To help you along a bit, here are ten of our glassware suggestions, each paired with a recommended beer to fill them with. The dimpled mug is back. Having been elbowed off the bar shelf by taller, narrower and lighter pint glasses, drinkers are once again reaching out for a sturdy, no-nonsense mug. Lancashire glassmakers Ravenhead produces the archetypal design: thick glass all round, with a large, fist-sized handle and the all-important concave dimples that cause the light to shimmer on whatever booze is contained within.

Millions of litres of beer is being tipped down the drain in Australia as huge quantities of the liquid gold goes off in kegs. It is news no beer lover wants to hear, but with pubs and clubs closed due by coronavirus restrictions and most not due to reopen to large numbers any time soon, the product is “starting to come up against some of its use-by dates”. The biggest brewers are trying to repurpose the beer by putting some of it through their wastewater treatment plants, but cannot guarantee some of the product will not be simply dumped.
Beer educator and commentator Matt Kirkegaard said he has never seen the industry in such a slump. I’ve seen estimations of millions of litres. Millions of would-be schooners have been going stale since pubs and breweries closed to drinkers when coronavirus restrictions tightened in late March. One of the largest brewers in the nation, Lion, said the closures had been “gut-wrenching”.
The ABC understands about 90, kegs — or more than 10 million schooners of beer — will need to be emptied by the company. It is understood the brewer will aim to put the beer into its on-site wastewater treatment plants to produce biogas , but there are no guarantees some of the product will not also just be tipped down the drain.
The country’s other major brewer, Carlton and United Breweries, is refunding its customers’ unopened kegs and providing pubs with bottles to fill beer from kegs. A spokesperson for the company said “it’s difficult to quantify how much liquid will go to waste”. Mr Kirkegaard said the big brewers are better off disposing of beer now to avoid paying tax. Beer wastage is a painful topic for brewer Ben Rylands, who owns the New England Brewing Company in the small town of Uralla, more than five hours north-west of Sydney.
He is adapting his business model by moving beer from kegs into stubbies, but that is costly because he pays an increased excise rate, as well as buying in bottles, labels, caps and cartons.

All of our Belleek’s Giftware marks, with minor exceptions, include symbols which are unmistakably Irish — The Irish Wolfhound with head turned to face the Round Tower believed to be modelled on Fermanagh’s own Devenish Round Tower, the Irish Harp and sprigs of shamrock which border the ends of the banner at base of each design and carries the single word Belleek.
The colour of the mark during this period was predominantly black but other colours were used, amongst them red, blue, orange, green, brown, and pink. Some pieces of Belleek also carry the British Patent Office registration mark which gives the date of registration, not the date the piece was manufactured. During this period Belleek also used impressed mark, with the words “Belleek,CO.
